What a cover-up can — and can't — do
Usually, yes — your tattoo can be covered. But physics is physics: a cover-up needs to be larger and generally darker than what's underneath, and heavily saturated black has fewer options than a faded outline. That's exactly what the free consultation is for — your artist assesses your actual ink, in person, and shows you designs that will still look right in ten years. Free consultation
Bring the tattoo (and any reference — photos or a Pinterest board). Your artist maps what's possible over your exact ink, placement and skin.
Step 2
Design over your tattoo
The new design is built on a photo of your actual tattoo — you approve the final sketch before any needle touches skin.
Step 3
The work
Smaller cover-ups are done in one session; complex ones are planned in stages. A deposit is only taken when you book the session — and it counts toward your tattoo.

Healed follow-through
You leave with an aftercare plan, and our gallery shows cover-ups healed — because that's the only version that matters.

What a cover-up costs
Cover-ups price like the tattoos they are — by size, detail and placement. Most fall in the medium to large range: $200–$500 for medium custom work, $500–$1,000 for large pieces; tattoos start at $100. Because a cover-up must outwork the old ink, it usually sits a size class above the original. Your exact price is finalized at your free consultation.

I have an old tattoo I hate. Can it be covered?

How much does a cover-up tattoo cost?

How much bigger does a cover-up need to be?

Can you cover a solid black or very dark tattoo?
Often, yes — dark areas become the shadows and structure of the new design, but options are narrower than over faded ink. For the darkest pieces, a few laser-lightening sessions first can open up far more designs.
Do cover-ups hurt more than regular tattoos?
Not meaningfully — you're tattooing over previously tattooed (fully healed) skin, and most clients report it feels the same as their first pass. Placement affects pain far more than the fact it's a cover-up.
Should I get my old tattoo lasered before a cover-up?
